Middle Bedroom weekend progress (Saturday)

We've consigned the wardrobes to the now growing junk heap out back. After a lot of steamy strip shows, 3 of the 4 walls are now down to bare plaster. I know its the dark before the sunrise but this room really does look like a dung heap at the moment. I'm half expecting to find Lord Lucan or Sheargar hiding behind the plaster.

This first pic shows the worst of the walls. When the chimney breast was removed they never bothered to skin over the layer of cement. They just patched over with lining paper.

The second picture and the second wall. Most of the top layer of plaster came off with the 6, yes 6 layers of wallpaper. The coving has to be replaced as the muppets that installed the wardrobes cut through them instead of shaping the sides of the units to suit.

This is what really blown plaster looks like. Its pretty obvious there was some serious water damage around the windows at some point.

I was hoping to be able to fix all the plaster myself but after mucking about with the various types of base plaster, undercoat, top coat, finishing, etc...... I said b*gger it. We've used a site called Rated People.com. https://www.ratedpeople.com/ Its a pretty good idea, post your jobs that need doing and you get back contractors in your area that quote for the work. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks we will have the room properly plastered and finished. The contractor we've chosen has also been able to source the same pattern of coving, so he can fix what's there instead of me having to replace the whole lot.
