My poor knees

The underlay is down and the final laminate flooring is progressing, slowly. What a pain this stuff is. Lock the long edge, then lock the short edge, except when offsetting a row, then you lock the short edge first, then the long edge unless its a Tuesday during full moon........ Lesson learned, ignore the so called expert tips booklet the shop hands out and just follow the instructions on the box of sheets. Neither method works worth a damn but the tips booklet was total rubbish.

I'd like just 5 minutes with a cricket bat and the sadistic bastard that invented interlocking laminate flooring. This stuff is pure evil.

But first a rant about the idiots that came up with the packaging for the fibreboard underlay. Once upon a time you bought hot dogs in packets of 8 but the buns came in 12s. That meant you either had left over buns or had to buy 2 dozen buns and 3 packs of weiners. The muppets that came up with the underlay must have started life in a hot dog factory. (same contents probably) This green fluffy, itchy, nasty stuff is sold in packets of 9.6 m², 19 sheets in a pack. What moron came up with a packet of 19??? Stupidly the average double room is just over 9.6 m². In our case this meant we needed 20 sheets. That's right we had to buy a whole second packet just for 1 sheet as they don't sell singles or smaller packs. Still at this rate we will be able to do another 18 rooms without having to buy a second pack again.

After about 3 hours of bashing my knees and crawling around on the floor. I'm getting too old for this crap.
Trying to get a 3m length of wobbly wood to line up into a 3mm sized slot is a nightmare. The booklet said start in the middle and work outwards, the packet instructions said start at one end. Get one bit in and the other end pops out. Get the middle in and the edges disconnect. And on and on and on......... In the end the only real way to get this crap to stay where it should is to get one end down, then have someone to stand on that end while you bash the other end in with a kick plate and hammer.

After 6 hours and a lot of profanity, we're down to the last 4 rows of laminate.

Next room I'm putting in a f*&^%ng carpet!!
