Moving slowly

Work at the old dung heap has pretty much been on pause for the past few weeks. All that pre-Christmas stuff gets in the way along with work and a rather nasty bout of flu have all conspired to delay things once again.

The shed is sitting mostly empty as I need to beef up the door and locks before starting to store anything in it. The lock and hinges that come with it are pretty feeble. Most likely we'll wait until Feb or March before insulating and getting the electricity hooked up. In the mean time there are still several little niggly jobs left around the house.

First there is the matter of cleaning 107 years of paint from the door frames. The first pic shows just how thick it is. After an hour or so with the heat gun the second pic shows there really is wood underneath. All it needs is some sanding and a coat of fresh paint to look as good as new.

As can be seen the computer and other junk has started migrating back into the office room. The first room apart from the door frame is now complete.

Now its time to move on to the little annoyances like the leaking tap in the bathroom and the dysfunctional light in the spare bedroom. Not to mention we've still to find a home for the remaining dozen bags of concrete taking up space in the back.

Andrew and Liz; If you are going through all the trouble of stripping paint from door frames, why paint them all over again? Do they, will they not look good with a coat of clear lacquer? Or is that too passe?
