Odd Job, and not that one from James Bond

As mentioned in a previous episode of the chronicles, most of the work around the dung heap has been in the form of little odd jobs. Just like the character in Goldfinger, just when you think you've finished them off, they have a way of coming back to haunt you.

The front hallway had to be redone again as little miss Emma continues to wee at the front door. This time I've sealed the floorboards with a layer of vapour barrier and a second layer between the laminate and the underlay.

This pretty much leaves us with a waterproof hallway that can be mopped up easily without damaging either the underlay or the floorboards. The laminate panels on the left can be lifted by removing the metal strip. This allows access to the 'trap door' to the water main shut off valve. I still think its a bloody stupid place to put it.

This flooring is a temporary solution as eventually most of the left hand wall in the picture will be removed to open out the front room giving us a living space. A 10' by 3' 6" hallway with a bloody big radiator is a waste of floor area. Its too narrow for any sort of book case or shelving. A coat rack is out of the question too. That stupid radiator also gets in the way as it blocks the wall where the hall widens out for the staircase. That would have been a perfect place for our umbrella stand but noooooo. I'm planning on having a celebration after I get to rip that radiator out.
