Revenge of the Triffid

Looks like the triffid may have the last laugh. After chopping the thing into little bits to be composted it appears the triffid's trunk has refused to die. After 2 weeks its still green and appears to be trying to grow back. Looks like a job for Roundup.

Thats not the only problem. The triffid appears to have managed to spread its root system under the old garage pad. In doing so we've found cracks and heaves in the pad after clearing it of debris and dirt following the great bunker bust of 08. The upshot of this is, the pad isn't flat enough for the shed. A lot of head scratching and some consulting with the shed manufacturer and we have a solution. Its not great but it is a solid solution. It involves creating a pressure treated timber outline of the shed and filling it with concrete to form a level surface, on top of the existing garage pad. At least I don't have to jack hammer up the existing concrete. The additional cost not to mention effort will pretty much eat up the discount on the shed.

I swear I can hear that bloody plant laughing at me.

Enjoyed catching up on all the happenings. It is a universal truth that any home renovation always leads to much more work as there is always something hidden that has to be dealt with before the original job can be finished. Always good to have a Plan B in the works, or in some instances, a plan C and even a Plan D. You're doing a bang up job. Keep up the good work !!!!
