Another weekend come and gone with a lot less to show for it than expected. By now we should have long ago finished the middle room's rebuilding, and also be the proud owners of a shiny new workshop/shed. But noooooooo. The room is still a mess. Albeit its nearly there, only about another 6 hours of work left. The shed delivery will have to be delayed another week thanks to the rain and the distinct lack of a finished surface to put it on. To top it off it was too cold to even sit outside and enjoy a jug of Pimms.
Still, we did manage to get a few things accomplished. All of the electrical sockets, light switch, and fixtures in the middle room have been replaced. The ugly old propeller is now history. The frightening thing is the ceiling fan was only held on by 2 small screws and the safety hook and chain restraint inside the unit's casing hadn't been attached to anything. I'm really suprised the whole thing didn't come crashing down at some point in the past.
The major accomplishment on Sunday was the laying of the subfloor.
The floorboards were in a pretty decrepit state and had been covered by a second thin layer of board. This led to all sorts of problems with the thinner layer starting to curl as very few of them were actually nailed to the real floorboards.
The lot has been cleaned, leveled, and covered by a 6mm layer of OSB which has been screwed down to the joists. All that's left now is the laminate flooring, and skirting boards. After 9 weeks of stop/start and the need to have the whole thing replastered we can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Glad to see progress being made.
Many back up plans better than just plan B. With all the skills you are acquiring, you will be able to hire yourself out once you retire!!
